The Battle

Sage flinched again as his grip tightened, and didn't even look at Leanne, who was now yelling some not very nice things at Andrew. Her eyes widened as his mouth was brought to her neck again, but suddenly he was pushed off. She fell back, rubbing her wrist, which had turned red now. She could already see a bruise forming, in the pattern of his fingers.

Leanne grabbed her hand while she could, and pulled her out. "You have to be careful!" Leanne cried. "I can't stop him from doing anything to you," She said.

"But-" Sage started.

"The bond only works one way," Leanne said, taking her back down the hall.

Seth somehow managed to catch the camera, and turned it over in his hands. He started laughing as he saw his surprised expression. He had been around long enough to understand technology, though if someone had spoke of it in his day he would have called them insane.

"I don't like it," He pouted.

Gem followed quickly, frowning. She blinked in surprise at the mention of the manor.

"I'm sure they would," She said. "But....what if Damian comes back? Shouldn't you be here?" She asked quietly, not wanting to anger him again.

Sean sighed, ad got off of him when the girls left. "Care to explain?" Sean asked.

"Nope." Andrew said.

Sean sighed, and left the one. Moments later he was knocking on KC's door.

Cinder laughed at him. "If you don't like it, give it back, and I'll take another one."

Christen shock his head. "It doesn't matter. She doesn't want me."

"No more," Seth whined. "I don't photograph well."

K.C. was back from hunting now, and opened her door. She stared at her father for a moment before speaking.

"What are you doing here?" She asked simply.

"But you don't want her to get hurt....right?" Gem asked.

Sage was back in her room now, Leanne back in hers. She plopped down on the bed, groaning. She was tired.

Cinder laughed. "Well I still need the camera back." She said.

"I live here . . . ." He said.

Christen goarned. "Fine. I'll come back in the morning." He said. "But she's on her own tonight, I don't think he'll come back tonight anyhow.

"But you haven't been here in how long?" K.C. asked. Then she sighed. "Nevermind. It doesn't matter," She said.

Gem smiled slightly and nodded. "Come on, then," She said, grabbing his hand and running.

Seth nodded, and stood up, handing her the camera. His hands lingered on hers, however.

"Andrew is being an idiot, nothing new there, but why is there humans in the manor? And who is that new made vampire?"

Christen kept his pace slow, to stay with her.

Cinder smiled and looked at their hands. Was this what real afftion felt like?

"That would be Andrew's stupidity," K.C. said, boredly. "He bit her, and then Patrick brought her friends over, and they found out we were vampires," She said simply.

Seth smiled slightly and sat down on the edge of her bed, keeping his hands on hers.

Prize hadn’t slept last night. She was worried about Christen. He hadn’t retuned home. She felt so bad. And he had taken it the wrong way. Yes she could of have said, you were a mistake, but I still love you , nicer, but she was on the verge of tears. She didn’t know any other way to say. She kept pacing, and pacing, and pacing. She hoped he returned soon. Oh, she felt so bad, the moment he step in the door, if he did, she would hug him, hug him and never let go.

She finally sat down. Lukey, Christen’s kitten jumped in her. She petted it quietly, silently weeping.

School was still out. Sergei was down stairs. He was cooking the morning meal. Roza was helping him. They were making hot cakes, and bacon. Roza was bouncing around, humming. “Careful,” Sergei warned. “You’ll burn yourself.” Of course he said this in Russian.

Dimitri and Savatyan was upstairs. Dimitri was in his room, Germen metal playing loudly. And his door was locked. Maybe that was a good thing. Savastyan was banging on his door, yelling for him to turn that crap off. What did Dimitri do? He turned up louder. A small smirk crossed his face as he stared out the window.

Laurence was sitting on top of a building. His eyes were scanning below for anything other then human. So far he seen tons of dead, but he couldn’t do anything about them yet. He closed his eyes. His twisted mind already had a plan ready. His eyes snapped open, just in time to see a gifted. He smirked. Gifteds may be human, but they are unwelcome humans. He frowned. There was someone else with her; a ghost. Through he was visible, he had a strange white light to him. This light only Laurence could see. It marked the boy as what he was.

Drake was at his house. He was bored out of his mind, never mind, he didn’t have one anymore. He just blinked as the fuzzy Gem, his mind made up, yelled at him for letting her die. What was he to say? It was his fault after all. He had been running late. And if anyone asked him what he gotten her, he wouldn’t be able to answer. He long since forgotten.

He sighed, as another one appeared. He almost missed that strange one, the one that said it wasn’t his fault. The one that said she was a vampire. Almost. You couldn’t miss what wasn’t real. Right?

Simon was home. He was strumming at his guitar. He was playing a random melody that had popped into his head. Then suddenly he recognized it, and groaned. He had once written December a song, but he never showed her it. That was the melody. Why couldn’t he get her out of his head? Nothing could happen between them. She was Brooke’s best friend. It didn’t matter if Brooke couldn’t remember, he still felt as if he would get in-between them.

Oh what the heck. He started over and played through the whole song, no he didn’t sing the words, but the music alone was beautiful. He didn’t even notice his bedroom window was open.

Winney was home all alone. Warren was at work. She would never admit it. But she was worried. Worried about her older sister. She was slowly dieing. She couldn’t stand to see Willow like that, so she didn’t go to visit her. It reminded her to much of when they were little, when dad beat her so hard Willow had to go to the hospital. She shivered at the memory.

She sighed and stood up. She didn’t know what to do, so she just stood there.

Tony was sitting next to Anne. She had no more medicine. Mom wouldn’t be able to afford more for another two weeks. Anne still didn’t know, but she would soon.

A lot could happen in two weeks. It scared him. She always asked why he liked to scare her; this was it. Deep down it was something like revenge. Revenge for all the times she scared him, all the moments like this; where he didn’t know if she was going to live or die. He didn’t know what he would do if she died. She was the most important in his life. So important that if she would disappear, his whole life would cave in. Yes, it was something like revenge, but no matter what, it wasn’t the same, no amount of fear he gave would ever equal the amount she gave him, without even trying.

Willow was still in the hospital. The doctors didn’t believe she would ever make it out; unless it was in a casket.

But there was a bright side. Sometime after midnight she woke up. She said Samuel’s name, and fell right back asleep. Then again at three am. Now it was eleven am. Her heart had only stopped once more since the first time. But she was still alive. She was fighting it, almost as if she had something she needed to do.

“Sam?” She said softly, her eyes fluttering open. “Sam?” She repeated, his eyes closing again.

Ash stood up and stretched. He glanced at his clock “Wow.” He said. It amazed him he woken up so late. He shock it off and opened his closet. He pulled out his normal black attire, and headed towards the bathroom. On the way he peeked in Cinder’s room. She wasn’t there. He sighed loudly, and closed her door. Moments later he was turning on the hot water.

Yesterday, after his run in with Cole, he came home and went right to his room. He wasn’t stupid. He wasn’t going to tell Cinder that her crazy ex-boyfriend was looking for her.

He quickly undressed, and stepped into the steaming water. He let it melt his thoughts away.

Cinder had woken up early this morning. She was now out running errands for her mom. She had dragged Seth with her, but had a funny feeling he would of have followed her anyway. She told him he needed to be visible because she didn’t want to crazy, by talking to the ‘air’.

They were walking down New Bells Street. One of the busiest streets in Dale. It was were all the best stores were. She had no idea that there was a hunter sitting on the roof of a grocery store, now eyeing her, and her ghostly friend. Shoot, she had no idea that there was such thing as hunters.

“Hurry.” She whined to Seth.

Luke was at home. He was reading. He was a geek in a sense. He could recite poems, and, well, do anything that had to do with litature.

He flipped the page. He was on page 421 out of about 800 pages. This was in about a day in a half. He loved to read, sometimes his mom couldn’t get him to put a book down. And, hey, no one really complained. It kept him quiet.

Brooke was at home, laying on her bed. The brownish wall seemed like they would come crashing down at her. She wanted them to. She didn’t feel right here. This place scared her. She wasn’t that girl in those pictures. ‘I’m not her!’ She wanted to yell, but she kept he mouth shut.

She had finally come to terms that she could read minds. This scared her more. And at the movement she, she was listening to the thoughts of the people who claimed to be her family. She so badly wanted to be that girl they knew and wanted back. But she couldn’t, because she wasn’t.

She found her self missing Moses.

Dominic was by the old hallow tree. He always came here to think. He been thinking a lot lately. He was right, and he knew that. But he also knew that he had no right to say those things. And to go with that, he knew he wouldn’t tell her he was sorry. Why? Because, through he shouldn’t of have said them, he didn’t regret it.

It hurt. It hurt to love some one so long, and to get them back, only to find out they liked someone else. She didn’t realize that. She didn’t understand that pain. She never would . . .

James was running down the streets. He kept bumping into people, and they would yell at him, but he didn’t care. The whole time he kept his smile on his face. He was always smiling around people. It wasn’t until he was alone that his smile would drop, and his thoughts would turn to less happy things. But that didn’t matter right now. He wanted to play, and he wanted to play with Ella. So he climbed up her steps, and knocked on her door.

Ally was jumping on Milo’s bed. “Oh, you’re so boring!” She yelled.

Milo frowned. “I mean it Ally, get down!” He didn’t sound to happy. “And if I don’t wanna?” She asked playfully. He glared at her. “Isn’t that what lead to your death!?” He asked.

She stopped jumping and glared at him. “I’m dead now, so why does it matter?” She asked, you could tell by her voice, she was on the verge of tears. Why did he have to bring that up!?

Isaac was at home. He missed Alex, but thought she would be better off without him. He saw how sad she was when she saw Kayla.

Kayla . . . She had been the love of his life. But now he was dead. He gotten over her a long time ago. Yes, it made him sad to find out he had a kid. A kid who he didn’t raise. ’I promise, I’ll always be here for you, and any kids we may have.’ His words rang in his head. He always ended up breaking promises didn’t he?

That made up his mind. He had to end things with Alex. He didn’t want to end up hurting her.

He stood up, and quickly head toward Alex’s home.

Alice was were she was always. She was on the roofs, lost in thought. She wanted to know who she use to be. She wanted to know her past . . .

No! She couldn’t. She didn’t want it. Yet, she did, No! There must have been a reason she forgot, she didn’t want to know that reason. And yet, she did . . .

Kira was scared. She was sitting in Ember’s room. She wouldn’t go into Dimitri’s. All that yelling music was scaring her. She would be as pale as a ghost, if she could be. Ghost’s weren’t really pale . . . They look exactly like they did alive.

She looked at Ember, and smiled, through it was a trembling smile. She could still here the loud music, even over here.

Massachusetts was sitting in Moses’ new room. “I hate it here.” He said, bluntly. “I want to go back to New York.”

Moses frowned at his younger brother. “Massy, this is a new start. Let’s stay here for a while.” He said quietly.

“Why are we here?” Massy demanded.

“We needed to get away.” Moses answered. He wasn’t going to tell him that he grew fond of a girl, and had followed her back to this place. No, that would of have been a death wish! And even he couldn’t believe this. What was so special about Brooke!?

Ethyl was staying in an empty house at the edge of town, a different one from her brother. She was pacing. She was plotting. She wanted to see Damian dead! That wasn’t a very ice thing for a little sister to want from their older brother. But who said she was nice? If you were raised by Damian like she was, you would want him dead too. He was the reason she was insane. Oh, but she didn’t think she was insane, not very many insane people thought they were insane. She almost laughed. “No, that won’t work . . .” She said.

Michi was in her room, looking at all the empty bird cages. She sighed. She couldn’t think about birds right now. All she could think about was Draven, and how his lips felt on hers. These thoughts both scared her, and made her happy. She sighed again, and closed her eyes. She finally gave into the thoughts, and a small smile crossed her lips as she remembered his lips on hers. Suddenly she pulled her self out of it.

This was wrong! They should hate each other’s guts! Yet, if felt so right, it felt nice. Oh, god, she thought she was falling for him. This couldn’t be good, could it?

Nelly was in the cage that was in Elianna’s room. She was in bird form. Michi had wanted her to keep an eye on the princess, and her child. Nelly wasn’t complaining, she loved being petted.

Tobias was asleep. He preferred walking around at night. To him the day was for sleeping. The night was better anyways. It was quieter, and more peaceful. It was easier to focuses at night, and plus, the night was when vampires were meant to come out and play.

Mickey was also sleeping. By his side was his wife; Juliette. His arms were wrapped around her tightly, as if he was afraid to lose her while he was sleeping. And he was. She was known for walking around in the day, ad getting in trouble. There was a number of times he almost lost her.

Juliette wasn’t sleeping. She was smiling, and watching Mickey sleep.

Sometime during the night Patrick had rolled off the bed, for now he laid, asleep, on the floor. He didn’t stir, and he looked peaceful, as if he was having a good dream. A very good dream, judging about the smile on his face.

Andrew was in the study with his mother. He was scolding him about something. Just don’t ask him about what, he had no idea. He wasn’t paying attention, he never did. His best bet was that it was something about what had happened last night.

Oh, and his father was there too . . .

Sean was leaning against a bookshelf. It hardly seemed as if he was paying any attention either. He yawned as if he was bored. Myame gave him a glare. “Sorry, love, you tend to ramble.” He said.

Darren had found a great place to read, since he was there often, reading. This time he had his legs drawn up to his chest so if Rainy came out, she wouldn’t trip over him, again. This time his book was about the American government. He let the words drown out Pamala’s voice yelling at him in his head. He didn’t really care about what she was saying.

Christen sat up. He didn’t want to go home, yet. Yeah, he felt bad about getting mad at his mom. He shouldn’t of have. But sometimes the smallest of things set him off.

Right now all he wanted to do was think. He would go home, and wait for Damian to come. An he would wait and wait. He wasn’t sure when the next time he would come. He seemed random, but determined. And that was just great, one day he would die, by his own father’s hand.

Nicole and Zane were home. They were playing games together. She loved him. He was her brother, but not by blood. They found Zane when he still a toddler. She didn’t know what he was. He could turn into a fox, he could talk to foxes, was there such thing something a were fox? Nicole didn’t think so, and besides, he could do weird things.

She shock off her thoughts as she allowed him to beat him in Chess.

Monique was wondering around the Manor, curious about the new place. She had seen some of the otehr vampires here but hadn't spoken to any of them. She was upstairs at the moment smiling as she looked around.

Ember was sitting on her bed, trying to sleep. Trying would be the key word here. The chattering Jeremy, still trying to convince her he was real, the silent sillohette of Kira, and the blasting music coming from next door was making that near impossible. She was going crazy; there was no way that she was seeing dead people. How crazy did that sound?

Suddenly she sat up, and stormed over to her window. She slammed open the window and yelled across to Dimitri.

“Dimitri!!” She shouted, cupping her hands around her mouth to make herself better heard. “Turn that radio off before I shove it up your—“ She began, but Jeremy cut her off.

“Language,” He hissed. Okay, now she knew she wasn’t real. She was the one who critized him on his language all the time! When he was alive, that is.

She ignored him and kept yelling. “I can’t hear myself think!!” She shouted. “Turn that crap off!”

Vivian was sick of sitting at home and doing nothing. School was still out, and she had nothing to do. She was already far, far ahead on schoolwork, and was beyond bored. Her parents had somehow found a way to work, even though the roads were still very flooded. She didn’t like the way her life had turned out lately. She didn’t understand why all the girls at school laughed at her, when all she did was try and be nice to them. It confused her. So far, the only one who had been nice to her was Sergei, and she hadn’t seen him in a while.

She was sitting on the couch downstairs, eating popcorn and flipping through the channel aimlessly.

Samantha was at home as well, thinking. She had found she had been doing that a lot lately. She also found that she was constantly angry; perhaps because she had been unable to find a gym here that would take her in without ‘parental consent’. She rolled her eyes at the thought. She was far past needing her parents for anything. She had been on her own for almost a year now….

That’s right. Almost a year, how long it’d been since that night. It seemed like just yesterday….

Alex ran to answer the door before Ella could. Perhaps she was hoping it would be Dominic, or maybe even Issac, but it was James. She forced a smile at him, however, and called for Ella, who came running. Ella flashed him a smile and ran outside, saying goodbye to her sister. Alex closed the door behind her, and turned back into the kitchen. It was empty; she didn’t need food anymore. She sat down at the table, burying her face in her hands.

Ella smiled at James. “Hello!” She chirped. She was worreied about Alex, but one couldn’t tell right now.

Seth smiled slightly and hurried to keep up with Cinder. He was enjoying spending time with her, though he knew that one day it would have to end. He didn’t even seem to care about how selfish he was.

When she said to hurry, he picked up the pace. He looked up at the sky, but his eyes caught something different . A figure perched on top of a building, looking straight at him and Cinder. Now Seth knew about hunters, but that thought didn’t even pass through his mind right now. He got a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, however, and moved himself closer to Cinder, as if to protect her from the unknown danger.

Draven was thinking, about Michi. Elianna had been right; he was falling for her. And he hated it. But no matter how hard he tried, he could not stop. He didn’t know what had pushed him to kiss her that day, but he had.

Elianna still would not speak to him. She was upset, and he could see why. But he was too prideful to apologize. He lay back on his bed, closing his eyes.

Elianna was in her room with Isabel, smiling at her as she petted Nelly. Elianna was thinking. Ever since Draven had mentioned him, thoughts of her late husband had not left her mind. She missed him; so, so much. But he was gone. And he was not coming back. Her smile was fake, however, and soon she looked back out the window.

Leanne was having a nightmare, however. She was back to the time she had been bitten, the night she had changed. She was rolling back and forth in bed, groaning. The nightmares wouldn’t’ stop. She couldn’t take this. She---

“Oof!!” She shouted. She had fallen off the bed. But, the floor didn’t seem as hard as it should. She looked down, only to see that she had fallen on top of Patrick. That had to hurt.

Sage was in her room, staring at her hands. Who did that Andrew guy think he was anyways?? He got all angry when she did something, but how was she supposed to know that the cross was his fathers? And besides, hadn’t he done enough o her and her friends? Why should she care if he was angry?

But he had seemed pretty mad, and she found herself wondering if he’d want revenge or something. She sighed and lit her cigarette, blowing the smoke out of her mouth and watching it float up to the sky through her window.

Summer was asleep, in the same bed as Winter. Those two just couldn’t seem to separate for longer than five minutes at a time.

Rainy was in her room, thinking. She felt bad, having a crush on Darren when she knew full well that leanne did. Though Leanne had Patrick; she meant to talk to her about all of this. She was worried about her.

She sighed and stood up, stretching. She walked out into the hall, and jumped when she saw Darren, but didn’t trip over him this time, which was good. She sighed in relief, and plopped down next to him silently. “Morning,” She yawned.

Anne was staring forward from her spot on the couch. Every so often she would glance over at Tony. She was worried about him, to say the least. He always seemed to be worried about something lately. And on top of that, she always seemed to be sick lately. Even now, she was tired and weak. She felt her eyes slowly close, but forced herself to keep them open.

Sandra was at home, counting her money. Ever since she found out about Anne’s medicine, she had taken up a part time job as a waitress. She wanted to help her friend, and was determined to, weather or not Tony liked it. She had been working around the house nonstop for extra money, done carwashes around the neighborhood, walked dogs (and had a ruined pair of shoes to prove it), anything she could to help him. She was exhausted right now, but all of that, along with the money she already had saved up for a trip in the summer (which she no longer needed), added up to about a hundred dollars. She knew it was hardly anything, compared to what they would need. But she felt that it could help, however little.

She stood up and fixed her hair in the mirror, so he wouldn’t be able to tell just how tired she looked, and walked outside and next door, where she knocked on the door.

December was looking forward, humming lightly to herself. She was having a horrible time, to say the least. Her friend was still gone, the boy she had a huge crush on was determined to keep them as just friends, and she had the guilt of knowing that she had hated her parents all this time, when they had given their lives to save her. In short, she felt like a jerk, and just wanted to crawl under her bed and stay there until the end of time.

Speaking of time…she wondered how that little Greek girl was doing back home. That is, if Luke had taken her back. She hoped she was okay, and people didn’t think she was insane. December buried her face in her pillow, letting the dull roar of the television in her room along with her mind lull her back to sleep.

Anya wanted to tell Milo. She wanted to tell him who she was, and wanted him to remember . But at the same time, she didn’t. After all, what was she to him? A simple maid. Even if she told him she had worked for him, he surely wouldn’t’ remember her. There were far too many, and she didn’t say more than two words her entire life there.

She was walking down the street, and soon found herself looking up at the manor. She had lost her nerve the last time she had come here.

Damian was in the abandoned house on the edge of Dale, waiting. He didn’t know what he would do come nightfall. Go back to Prize? Probably not. He wanted a better plan for that. And he couldn’t go to Christen, not while he was in that manor with Gem. Gem….he could visit her. He let his insane mind wander.

Gem was in the library, as usual, reading a book. Her mind was racing from all of the events of the night before.

Sam was driving to the hospital to visit Willow. He still felt horrible. This was all his fault. And he hadn’t slept at all the night before, thinking of all that could happen. If she died, he would never forgive himself. Ever.

He drove faster.

Dimitri frowned. Suddenly the music off.

He suddenly stood up and was gone.

"What's wrong Seth?" Cinder asked, walking into the store, pulling out her mom's list.

Tony stood up. "Be right back." He said, and went to anwser the door. "Well you look like crap." He said.

Willow was slowly falling back to sleep.

Ember sighed, but her ears were still ringing. "Thank you!" She called, and turned back to her room. Jeremy was staring straight at her, causing her to scream.

Ella nodded. "Yeah," She said, with a small grin. "Just us?" She asked, glancing around.

Alex had her head down at the table. She didn't even look like she was awake, but she was.

"Nothing," Seth said quickly. "Thought I saw something is all," He said, and hurried to catch up with her.

Leanne quickly sat up. "Sorry!" She said quickly. "I fell, and uhm....yeah...." She mumbled.

"What are you reading?" Rainy asked curiously, glancing over his shoulder to get a better look at it.

Anne nodded, and looked to see who was there. She couldn't tell from where she sat, and felt too weak to get up.

Sandra sighed. "Thanks," She said. "Just what every girl wants to hear."

She took out an envelope and handed it to him. "Here," she said. It had the money in it.

Sam couldn't take this. He pressed down harder on the gas pedal.

Sage soon put out her ciggerette and put the lighter away, and sat back down on her bed.

Dimitri rolled his eyes. Then he heard her scream. "What's wrong?" He yelled.

"Yas, Zane is busy. He wouldn't even open the gate for me!" James said, his smile not leaveing his face.

Isaac looked at Ella quickly. "Your sister home?" He asked, he was frowning.

He handed her the book. "Something about your goverment."

Tony looked inside the envolope. He shook his head. "I can't take this."

Monique was running down the hall shouting at Justin for taking her necklace. Itwas her black and white beaded necklace that had a magnetic clip on the back to keep it on, but Justin had pulled it off. "Get back here!", she shouted as she ran by the room her brothers were in.

Justin was still running and laughing.

Ember closed her eyes tightly, shaking her head. When she opened them, he was still there. "He's here,..." She mumbled. "But he's not real...."

"Ember, I am real," Jeremy said, but she looked awfully pale now.

Ella laughed slightly, then turned to Issac. She frowned. "Yes, she's inside," She said quietly.

Rainy looked at it, wrinkeld her nose, and handed it back. "Bleh," She said simply.

Leanne quickly offered him a hand to help him up, still apologizing.

Sandra sighed. "Yes you can," She said. "I've been working my butt off for it, and you're going to take it. For Anne's sake," She said.

Dimitri frowned, and disappeared down his steps.

Lurerence looked down at the small girl. "Hello little girl." He said with a creepy smile.

Ember pushed past Jeremy, eyes closed tightly. She threw her door open and ran down the stairs, opening the front door, breathing heavily, eyes panicked.
