The Battle

"No, it's not!" Ella protested. "You're bleeding! Come back with me, I'll help," She said. She offered him a hand to help him up. She knew he couldn't die, but it still looked like it hurt.

Ember sighed. "You made a mess," She protested. "For someone whose room is so clean."

"It's nothing," Sam said quickly, perhaps a bit too quickly.

Anya smiled at him. "It's fine," She said quickly, masking her pain. "I didn't expect you to remember."

"Fine." He said, taking her hand.

"I'm mutitasking." He said. "Why I look like I'm making a mess, I really raiding you music colltion, and putting it in alphbet order." He said. And it was true, you look closely at the sacks you couls see they being put in ABC order.

"Sam." Willow said softly. "What's happening? Don't I hae a right to know?"

Milo frowned. "Why did you tell me this?"

Ella pulled him up, then started walking, quickly, still holding onto his hand.

Ember couldn't help it; she laughed.

"You know it won't stay like that for long," She said in between laughs.

"They said....you might die...." Sam mumbled, looking away.

Anya shrugged. "I don't know," She said quietly. And she didn't. Part of her had hoped he would remember her, but even then, what difference would it make? She was just one of his many maids. She meant nothing to him.

James followed with a frown.

"So?" He said. "It's bugging me." He said, the pile becoming neater and neater.

Willow frowned. "But, I. . ." She started to cry lightly.

Milo sighed. "I'm sorry, I can't"

Anya smiled at him. "It's fine," She said. "Really, it is." She looked around, and felt tears coming. "Well, I'm going to go now," She said quietly. "It's...." She shook her head. "Bye, Milo," She said quietly, and turned and walked outside.

Sam held her hand tighter. He didn't know what to say, but perhaps what hurt most, more than her tears or the fact she might die, was that it was still all his fault.

Ember smirked and watched him. The song changed, but she hardly seemed to notice. She looked up, and Jeremy was standing there behind him. Her eyes widened.

"I don't trust this guy," He said.

"Not real..." She whispered. "Not real."

Jeremy sighed.

Ella soon arrived home. She opened the door.

"Alex!" She called, but received no reponse. She frowned; that was weird.

Milo sighed, and let her go.

After a while of crying, she fell asleep. "Don't leave me yet." Were her last words before the visons started again.

Dimitri jumped to his feet and truned around. "Who said that, I know this song, it wasn't the music.

James closed his eyes.

Anya stared to run once she was outside. She was stupid. Oh so stupid.

Sam nodded. "I won't," He said quietly. He kept her hand held tighlty in his, even after her eyes were closed.

Ella frowned. "Wait here," She said, and ran upstairs. She came back a few minutes later with some peroxide and bandgaes. "Sit," She said, pointing to a chair in the kitchen.

Jeremy muttered something, now only heard by Ember. He had forgotten about that; all this dead stuff was new to him.

Ember's eyes slowly widened. "You heard him?" She whispered. "So he is real....but.....I don't understand...."

Jeremy groaned. "Told you so," he said, only heard by her now.

Willow's face started grow peaceful.

James sat down, quietly, the smile still has not returned.

"What do you mean?" Dimitri asked truning around looking at her.

"You heard him, right??" She asked. "Jeremy. That was him...he's here....I'm looking at him right now..." She mumbled. "But there's no way he can really be there....can he?" She mumbled.

Sam saw this, and frowned. He held her hand tighter.

Ella began to clean off the blood, as gently as she could.

"I can hear him." Dimitri said slowly.

Her grip on his hand loosened.

James looked around. "I shouldn't of have pushed you so high."

Ella laughed slightly. "Not your fault," She said, and bandaged his head. She stepped back,and had to stifle a laugh. "Sorry," She said. "You look kinda funny, with that on your head," She said.

Sam frowned. "Willow??" He asked. His voice grew louder. "Willow??"

Ember suddenly felt a wave of emotions hit her as she looked at Jeremy. Understanding, sorrow, relief, pain, joy, happieness, sadness, everything. She wanted to run and embrace him, but she was scared. He was just looking at her now, face impassive.

James pouted. "Don't fun if me."

Her eyes flashed open one last time. "I love you." She said, with her last breath. Moments later her eyes were stareing blankly at him. She was dead.

Something flashed on Dimitri's face, but then it was gone. He remember her telling him that she loved Jeremy, and now she had him back. He felt as if he just lost something. He stepped back. "Should I leave?"

Ella laughed. "Sorry!" She said. Suddenly she was serious again, looking around. "I wonder where Alex is..." She said.

Sam shook his head. "Willow!" He cried. "Wilow..no...please," He whispered, voice cracking, but it was no use. He tepped back as the doctors came rushing in, trying to bring her back. But it was no use; she was gone.

He felt his hands shaking. His fault. She was gone. She loved him....what was he supposed to think of that now??

He turned and ran out of the room as they put the sheet over her body, tears running down his cheeks. He didn't even care anymore.

Ember didn't respond; she was staring at....well, nothing, or so it would seem to him. Jeremy took a step towards her, and she took one back. She was scared.

James frowned. "I'll help look."

Winney came walking in now. She had no idea what had happened. "Sam?" She said when she saw him.

Dimitri took a step towards her. "Ember." He said quietly.

Ella nodded slowly. "Thanks," She said quietly. "This is so weird. She never goes anywhere without telling me first...."

Sam ignored her. "She's gone," he managed to say, and kept running. He was crying hard now.

Ember finally snapped out of it, and looked at him.

"Huh?" She asked.

James frowned. "Maybe because you weren't home?"

Winney ran to her room, and nearly fell into sobs. She didn't. She quickly call Warren.

"Want me to go?" He asked.

"Yeah, but she wouldn't go if I wasn't here to tell me," Ella said. "She never would..."

Ember shrugged. "If you want to..." She said quietly, finally tearing her eyes off of Jeremy again.

Sam ran outside and to his car. He got in, but didn't drive. He sat and cried.
