The Wishbones Empty Re: The Wishbones

Post by Denis Tue Nov 24, 2009 3:01 pm

Myame was twelve when her older brother’s first son was born. She looked down at the newborn prince. “He’s going to be a self centered spoiled brat!” She claimed.

The king looked at his little sister. “That’s not nice, Mimi.” He said using his nick name for her. This made her stick her tongue out at him. “Draven, will be a fine prince.”

“Draven!?” Myame sounded shocked and looked up at her brother. “You named him after father!?” Her voice loud.

Her brother laughed. “Yes, is that so wrong?”

“Yes!” She yelled. “Father was a great king, and he’s going to be a selfish prince!” Her voice was shaking with anger.

Her brother stood up, anger flashed in his eyes. “What right do you have to make such claims against my son?” He demanded.

Her hands were in fists. She opened her mouth to say something more, but a guard cut her off.

“She’s jealous, that’s all.” He said, he was at least fifty-two, but he only looked seventeen.

Myame glared at him. “You are not me, you do not know what I am!”

“Oh, Mimi, I think he’s right. You’re jealous because you will no longer be the center of attention.” Her brother said looking down at him.

“No!” She yelled. “No! That’s not it. I’m glad he was born, I’m glad I’m his aunt. But I can see it, he’s going to be a little brat.”

Her brother smiled softly at her. “It’s okay to be jealous.” He said.

“No, I’m-” She started.

“It’s daytime, go get some sleep.” He said, and looked down at his son.

Myame looked mad. “But-”

“Go!” Her brother cut her off again. “Sean will escort you to your rooms.” He said.

The guard who had spoken earlier opened the door for her.

Myame stormed toward the door, but before she stepped out she looked over her shoulder. “Before I go, tell me, why did you name after our dead father?”

Her brother smiled at her. “Because, I want him to be as a great ruler as our father was. I want him to be someone that cares for his people, and his family. I want him to find joy in the strangest of things. I want him to be a great king one day, just like our father.” He said picking up his sleeping son, accidentally waking him. He let out a cry, that said he wasn’t happy being held. He smiled at his son and put him back down, soon the crying stopped.

Myame was looking at her brother like he was crazy. “I hope he doesn’t let you down.” She said before she let Sean led her out of the room.

“I hope so too.” He mumbled under his breath when his little sister was gone.

A few moments later, Sean opened the door to her rooms. He bowed to her as she stepped in. He then stood up and smiled at her. “It’s normal to be jealous , you know.”

Myame screamed slightly. “I. Am. Not. Jealous. Of. My. Nephew!” She said, anger in her voice, and she wasn’t.

“Right, little princess.” He said, as he turned to leave.

She closed her eyes. “I love him, the little prince. Vane is already so proud of him. He was so happy to hear that he had a child on the way.” She said, making Sean stop and turn. “But I fear he’s going to let him down. Draven won’t be the person Vane is hoping he’ll be. I fear he’s going to be selfish and cold, maybe even evil.” She sighed. “And will Vane still be proud of him if he becomes that? Will he still care about him?” She sounded sad.

Sean kneeled down, so he could look at the young girl in the eyes. “I think your brother, the King, will care about his son, no matter if Draven makes him proud or not.” He said kindly.

“But-” Myame began.

“No.” Sean scolded. “You can not assume, just wait and see.” He said, standing up. A few moments later he was walking away. She stuck her tongue out, then slammed her door.

It was three years later that Vane’s second child was born, another son.

Myame, now fifth-teen, peeked into the room. Draven, three, was on his tiptoes, standing on a chair, looking into the cradle at his little brother. There was a deep frown on his face. He reached down and poked his new little brother on the cheek, causing him to cry.

Vane smiled at the little boy, not yet noticing his little sister. He picked up his oldest son, making him kick a little, setting him on the floor, then moved the chair a little ways away form the cradle. Draven watched him in wonder. A moment later Vane picked Draven back up, this time he tried to wiggle free, and sat him in the chair he was just standing on. Draven’s mother watched quietly, as Vane picked up their newborn son.

He leaned down, and set the young baby in Draven’s lap, and showed him how to hold him.

The young boy still kept the deep frown on his face as he looked down at his little brother.

Myame stepped in the room finally. “What did you name this one? Grim? After grandfather?”

Vane laughed. “No Mimi.” He said. “Tobias, his name is Tobias.”

Myame smiled at Draven and the little blond baby. “May I?” She asked, stepping close to the kids. Vane only nodded. She the ruffled Draven’s hair, earning her a glare, then took Tobias from him.

“My, my, my.” Myame was smiling. “We have a little plotter on our hands.”

Vane took Tobias from her, and glared at her. “Would you, please, stop making those ridicules claims against my kids!” He sounded angry. “You don’t know how they will turn out just by looking at them!” His voice was slowly rising. He set Tobias back in the cradle, the he turned back to his sister.

“Draven, come here.” Elianna, his mother said quietly.

He slid off the chair, and climbed up on the bed next to his mother.

“It’s almost sun rise, and you seem sleepy, I think it’s time for you to go to bed.” She said. Just then the doors opened and two guards walked in. Sean, and Nelly. Sean was Myame’s personal guard, as Nelly was Draven’s personal guard. She smiled at them. “Nelly, take Draven back to his rooms, please.”

Nelly nodded, and beckoned Draven to follow her. She knew better then to touch, or try to pick him up. Once when he was two, he tried to bite her, it was good he didn’t have his fangs in yet, but she knew they would be coming in soon. She was not looking forward to that, because it would be a pain to hunt with him.

Draven jumped down from the bed and followed Nelly out of the door.

When they were gone, Vane looked at Sean. “Take to her rooms as well.” He said, not sounding pleased.

He nodded but frowned. He said nothing on the way to the room. He bowed to her when he opened her door. She stepped in. “You did it again, right?” He asked.

“Don’t act like you know me.” She said, walking through the main room, and opening the door to her bed chamber, then slamming it close behind her.

“But I do know you.” Sean mumbled under his breath, walking to the windows. The sun was rising. He started to close the thick curtains. Although, the sun didn’t turn vampire’s to ash, it still hurt their eyes, and burnt their skin, and could only kill them if they were in it for far to long.

Myame locked the door to her bed chamber, then started to undress. She was aware that Sean was still in the main room, of her three room living area, but she tried to ignore the sound of his heart, she could always hear his heart more clearly then anyone’s, even humans, she had no idea why. She was happy there was a lock door in-between her and him. She quickly slipped into her plain white sleeping gown. She was about to get into bed when she heard a crash. She quickly threw open that door.

Apparently Sean had tripped and fell through one of her windows, just as the sun was coming up. No vampire would go out in the daytime to save him, they all needed their eyesight, and if he stayed out there to long it would kill him.

She stuck her head out the window, she was four floors up, and Sean wasn’t moving, and his heart beat was fading. Without thinking she ran through the castle, and outside. It wasn’t until she was sitting by his side, trying to wake him enough to get him inside, that she notice how nice the sun felt on her skin, and on her face. For a moment she forgot about Sean and turned her face toward the sun, a small smile gracing her lips.

“Your eyesight.” Sean mumbled.

“It’s fine, now stand up.” She said, helping him to his feet.

Apparently Sean had broken his ankle, so he had to lean against Myame to get back inside.

“Keep your eyes closed.” She said. This wasn’t just to protect his eyesight. Myame was now aware of the deep blush on her cheeks. She was wearing only her simple sleeping gown. By telling him to keep his eyes closed, she was also protecting herself from his roaming eyes.

Sean wasn’t the one that would let a girl, a royal girl, a royal girl he was meant to protect at that, help him. The only thought going through his mind was that he needed to get her inside as fast as possible, without her getting hurt. That meant he would need to open his eyes, so he could guide her in, with her eyes closed as not to damage her eyesight.

But as he was about to open his eyes, he realized something. He was leaning against her shoulder, the amount of cloth was noticeably less then normal. His hand was around her wrist, her bare wrist, he slid his hand up her arm, her bare arm. It did not come into contact with cloth until it was half-way above her elbow. She was only wearing her sleeping gown.

Myame shrived slightly at his touch. He noticed this and quickly put his hand back around her wrist. He kept his eyes closed, through her safety came before her morals, he couldn’t bare to open them. He even turned his face away from her.

Oh man, her brother was going to kill him.

Myame seemed to realized this as well, because she took him to an empty part of the castle.

She helped him in the empty room, and left in a hurry.

He opened his eyes, and sighed, examining his injuries. He had several burns, and a few broken bones. But overall, he still had his eyesight. He began to take his shirt off, there was a deep pain in his chest, and he needed to know if that wound made it the surface.

Myame tried to go back to her room to change, then to get help, but she was worried about all those burns. So instead she went back, without even changing, to the room she left him in, carrying bandages.

She knocked on the door. “Close your eyes.” She commanded.

“Wait, no!” Sean try to stop her. He had taken his shirt off to view the wound on his chest.

It was too late, she was already opening the door. He snapped his eyes closed and turned his head.

Myame stepped in, and at once her face turned red. “I’ll leave.” She said taking a step back. She tripped over the hem of her sleeping gown, and she fell against the door, making it close. And there was that awful sound, the sound of the lock clicking. “No.” She mumbled standing up, trying to open the door, it really was locked.

Vane wasn’t just going to kill Sean now, no doubt he would kill him over and over again. This was turning in to a mess.

Myame sighed. “They’ll find us soon.” She said, turning towards him, the blush returning, seeing his bare chest. She quietly walked over to him. “I might as well, bandage you up.” She said, that’s when she saw the scar on his chest. Parts of it was already healed, and looked years old, the fall must of have reopened other parts.

She sighed and took his wrist, and started to bandage the burn there. This time it was her touch that made Sean shiver. He couldn’t help it no more. He opened his eyes, and he was staring into her red eyes. At once he notice her blush grow deeper. Myame, on the other hand, did not notice his blush at all.

Although, he knew it was wrong, he didn’t close his eyes or look away. And as Myame feared, his eyes roamed her. He had never seen her in anything but heavy, elegant dresses, often in such bright colors it gave him a headache. Now, here she was, wearing a simple, white dress, meant only to be seen by the face in the mirror. In truth simple looked better on her, because it didn’t keep the eyes off her face. No matter how many times he looked her up and down, his eyes were always drawn back to her face.

Ugh! He was going to get himself killed.

Through out the many years of being Myame’s guard, Sean had had this special love for her, but that was forbidden, so in all these years, he had to keep it a secret. Even from Myame, who hid it from even herself, returned his love.

“Please.” Myame said softly. “Close your eyes, this is wrong.”

He hated to admit it, even to him self, but she was right. He closed his eyes. A few moments later she was bandaging up his chest.

“Put your shirt back on.” Myame commanded when she was done.

He obeyed silently.

It was Nelly who found them moments later.

She sighed. “No one knows you are gone yet.” She told Myame. “Go hurry, I’ll say I fixed Sean up, and he’ll say that he stumbled in on his own, and that it is a miracle that his eyesight is still fine. You got that?”

Myame nodded and ran off.

~!~

It wasn’t even a year later when Vane’s third child was born, but unlike the first two births, this one wasn’t joyous. How could it be? Elianna’s screams echoed through out the castle, she was is awful pain.

Draven opened Myame’s door, he stepped in quietly, followed by a ten month old blond, that was just learning to walk.

“Myame, what’s wrong with Mama? They won’t let me see her.” Draven asked, making it obvious that he expected a better answer then because.

“I do not know.” Myame said, bending down to pick up Tobias.

“No!” Draven said loudly. “Tell me!”

How could you tell a three-year-old that their mother was dieing? She needed a way to distract him. She quickly sat Tobias down. “Draven, come here for a moment.”

“Why?”

“I want to see your teeth, I think your fangs are coming in.” She said softly.

“Really?” He asked, opening his mouth for her to see.

She didn’t have to lie, they really were coming in. “Yep.” She said glad to have him distracted. He seemed so excited that his fangs were coming in. Myame never seen him so excited before. Then his mother screamed again.

He suddenly glared at Myame. “What’s wrong with my mother?” He demanded.

Before Myame could answer Vane walked in followed by Sean, Nelly, and Julienne, Tobias’ guard. Vane looked disorientated, but who could blame him, his wife was dieing.

“She’ll come back.” Myame said softly. Vampires only stayed dead if they were set on fire.

“I know.” Vane said, quietly. “But it is still hard to see her like this.”
Draven ran to his father. “What’s wrong with Mama? Myame won’t tell me”

Van didn’t answer him, instead he looked at Myame. “They can’t stay here with her like this.” He was referring to his sons. “I don’t like the idea of you being here with her like this. Please go with them, there’s a small manor near one of near by villages, the guards are taking them there, while there mother is . . . Sick.”

Draven was looking angry, why was no one answering him?
